| Cron for Windows Frequently Asked Questions |
| How do I set passwords ? |
| By default, the password is set to dwg, it can be changed via the "Set Password" button on the "About" screen. |
|
| What is a cronjob ? |
| A cronjob is a scheduled task, e.g. run my backup at 7:30. |
|
| Why is there a password when I want to exit ? |
| Cron for Windows is designed to be left running all the time. The password on exit is designed to stop users inadvertantly "cancelling" all future cronjobs by stopping the scheduler program. |
|
| How do I set a cronjob to run on just the weekdays ? |
| The add/edit screen shows a tabbed dialog. Set the required times up in the "times" tab on the left. Then move to the "days" tab on the right and select the 5 weekdays in the days of the week setting at the bottom. Leave the Days of the month section at the top set at every day. |
|
| Why do we get "Days of the month" AND "Days of the week" on the edit/add screen ? |
| Some cronjobs need to run on the first of every month, others on the first day of the week. It is also possible that cronjobs will need to be setup on the first day of the month if it is a weekday. |
|
| How can I make Cron for Windows understand applications in the same way that it does pcAnywhere ? |
| You select a .chf or .bhf file and Cron for Windows automatically sets up the command to call the relavent pcAnywhere program with your selected file. Any file types that are supported by your windows explorer are also automatically supported by Cron for Windows. |
|
| Is this cron program available for any other platform ? |
| Cron for Windows is currently only available for Windows95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP, sorry. |
